Total Privacy with the Local Video Recorder

Data privacy is a paramount concern for modern businesses, journalists, healthcare professionals, and content creators. The vast majority of video conferencing and recording platforms operate by sending your raw video and audio data to centralized cloud servers. Once it's in the cloud, you lose control over how it is processed, compressed, or potentially accessed. TALKLINK.LIVE disrupts this model with our Local Video Recorder. We provide a fully featured, browser-based studio where the actual processing and recording of the video happen entirely on your device's RAM and CPU.

How does it work? We utilize WebRTC for peer-to-peer data transmission (when possible) to bring your guests' video feeds directly to your browser. Then, we use the HTML5 Canvas API to arrange those feeds into beautiful layouts. Finally, the MediaRecorder API captures that canvas directly into a video file residing in your browser's memory. When you click "Stop Recording," the browser simply prompts you to save that file to your hard drive. There are no progress bars for "uploading to the cloud" because it never leaves your machine.

Benefits of the Local Video Recorder

How to Use the Local Video Recorder

Securing your video content is simple:

  1. Enter the Room: Click "Open Secure Room" to start the local application within your browser.
  2. Allow Permissions: Grant your browser access to the camera and microphone. (This stays local).
  3. Bring in Guests: Share the invite link. WebRTC will connect their browsers directly to yours.
  4. Record: Click the pink record button. Your browser's memory will begin storing the composited video stream.
  5. Download Immediately: Crucial step: Stop the recording and download the file. Because it is local, refreshing the page before downloading will delete the recording permanently!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

If the recording is local, why do I need an internet connection?

You need an internet connection to load the web application (HTML/CSS/JS) and to establish the WebRTC signaling connections required to bring remote guests into your recording canvas.

Does recording locally slow down my computer?

Recording multiple high-definition video feeds does require CPU and RAM. Ensure you close unnecessary background applications while using TALKLINK.LIVE for the best performance.

Where is my video saved?

When you stop recording, your browser will trigger a standard file download dialog. It will be saved wherever your browser normally saves downloaded files (usually the 'Downloads' folder).
